From National Geographic… a virtual 3D tour of China’s supercave Miao Room, the second-largest known underground chamber in the world. A British-led expedition exploring the karst region of China has mapped Miao Room and other caves using a cutting-edge laser that allows them to create this type of visualization of the otherwise dark, treacherous underground landscape. The story of this natural wonder, the region’s formation, and the explorers’ process mapping it, is shared in an in-depth story in National Geographic’s July issue – Empire of Rock by McKenzie Funk.
