6 Free and Fast Methods to Send Large Files

November 7, 2020 By Editor

Don’t you hate it when you have waited for so long for the file to attach in the email only to find that it’s too big to send? This is common. Most email services restrict the size of the file attachments.

Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean there’s no way about it. You can still send large files. I have successfully eliminated the problem of uploading and sending big files. I rely on the top Spectrum Internet plans for fast speed to upload and send files quicker. And, I use a file sharing service to send files.

There is more than one way to send large files. Let’s show you the options so that next time you want to send a large file, you choose an alternative route that works.

1: Use Cloud Storage

Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox are popular cloud storage providers. Some even have tools and features to send files safely. If you are using Gmail, use google drive and if you are using outlook, then go for OneDrive.

You can directly upload the file to the cloud storage you would like to use and then share the link in the email. Or if you are using Gmail, for instance, and attaching a file, if it’s too large, it automatically lets you send it through Google Drive. See more about popular cloud storage providers

2: Buy a Flash Drive

If the file ranges from 2 GB to 1 Tb, it’s best to invest in a flash drive and pass the files between coworkers. However, you must be sure the flash drive is free from malware and virus. If the flash drive is attached to an infected PC, it would become the seed of spreading the virus in other devices it’s attached to.

3: Use FireFox Send

It’s a free file transfer service by Mozilla. It allows you to share files from any browser. If you don’t want to sign in, it lets you share up to 1GB of files. On the other hand, if you sign in with a free account, you can send 2.5 GB files.

Once the file is shared, the recipient receives a link. They should just have to click on it to download the file. You will be glad to know that the service applies end-to-end encryption to make sure the content of the file remains protected. You can also set the expiry of the link and number of downloads so that it can’t be reshared.

To use this service, simply go to Firefox send page and sign up for an account. You will have to learn the process of sending the file. It’s pretty simple. Once you get a hang of it, you will love using this service to share large files securely.

4: Compress the File

Another common trick of sending large files is to compress them. Toss the files in a folder and use compression software to reduce the size of the folders. You will be able to attach the file with Gmail or any other email service without seeing the message that the file is too large.

The recipients will have to unzip the folder to be able to access the files. It’s very simple and it will make your life easier.  Some compression software also le

5: Use a File Transfer Site

If you would like to expand your options, then go for a third-party file transfer site. These are the top providers:

Jumpshare

With Jumpshare, you can send up to 250 Mb large files using the free account. Simply upload the file and share the link of the files with others.

The most convenient thing about this file sharing service is that they have a desktop version available. As you download it, you just have to drag and drop the files into it. Jumpshare copies the link to your clipboard which you can share with the recipients. They can access the file even if they don’t have a Jumpshare account.

MyAirBridge

MyAirBridge is very simple to use. It has a free and premium version available. To get started, all you have to do is upload the file and generate a link so that you can share it with the recipients. You may also email the link to certain recipients. It allows you to send up to 20 GB of large files for free.

6: Use a VPN

Sounds strange that a VPN can help you send a large file, right? As strange as it may be but it’s true. When the VPN is on, your internet service provider cannot determine the type of file and hence it fails to bandwidth management rules.

Try to upload a large file on Gmail by turning on a VPN and then hit send. You will be able to send the file magically. Before you try this trick, bear in mind the large file could slow down your VPN connection. There’s no guarantee that the delivery of the file would be successful.

Conclusion

The options to send big files are as many in number as Spectrum deals for existing customers. Pick your go-to solution and make your life easy!
