GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) – Crime analysis has made huge strides over the past decade. Pitt County, North Carolina has strived to implement the best tools to analyze crime, deploy resources, and protect their community.
Like many other communities, the challenge is finding the right tool that can leverage data within their existing business systems. In Pitt County’s case they use OSSI as their records management system (RMS). The County needed an Esri based GIS toolset that allowed them to easily leverage their existing GIS data and their OSSI RMS. After an extensive evaluation, Pitt County selected GTG’s applications, Vantage Points PSA Crimes and Vantage Points 360. Each application plays a significant role in spatially enabling incident locations to detect patterns of data, crime trends, hotspot locations, and social media feeds. James Kelt, GTG’s Public Safety Solutions Manager, points out: “We work with agencies throughout the United States. Each one of these are in need of an intuitive toolset that are is easy-to-use, Esri based, and integrates easily with their RMS. Unfortunately, many of these organizations struggle with underwhelming solutions that require extensive data conversion, cumbersome address matching, and a host of other technical dilemmas. As a group of past local government/public safety employees, we developed the Vantage Points Suite to allow an organization to quickly and easily visualize all of their critical data. Pitt County has successfully deployed the Vantage Points Suite and is using it in their daily operations.”
Vantage Points PSA is currently used by the Sheriff’s office for seamless integration of GIS data and an OSSI Crimes data. Vantage Points PSA gives the entire Sheriff’s Office the ability to visualize incidents as they occur via an intuitive GIS user interface. Vantage Points PSA is leveraged by the crime analysts and shift commanders to identify crime trends, hot spots, and an assortment of pertinent information.
Vantage Points 360 allows the County to display selected incident data in a dynamic, easy to use dashboard on any device. This real-time data feed is completely configurable and has proven to be invaluable for decision makers to react to trends and spikes of incidents.
GTG is a recent winner of the Esri International Mobile GIS Application Award and the Esri Special Achievement in GIS Award.
