Leica Geosystems announces new JetStream software

Leica Geosystems announces new JetStream software, an ultra-high-speed server for laser scan data and improved project data management platform

Heerbrugg/Switzerland, 01 April 2015) – Leica Geosystems today announced its new JetStream software product. Leica JetStream takes Leica Cyclone data and serves the data in a high-performance format that enables dramatically improved productivity for CloudWorx. Leica JetStream eliminates various “wait times” long associated with point cloud office work. It also provides improved project data management for laser scanning projects.

Streaming laser scan data for big office productivity gains
Leica JetStream is a new high-performance, streaming data server for HDS projects, taking data from Leica Cyclone software and serving it in a much faster format to software clients. Leica JetStream’s high-speed data server allows for instantaneous loading of point cloud data sets of any size. No waiting, no “regens”, and no patchy screen. Full-density point cloud rendering is achieved in real time, all the time, for panning, zooming, rotating, orbiting and other interactions, speeding up creation and queries for feature extraction. This easy wait-free handling of large data sets can cut office time by up to 20-40%. Compatible software clients include the full suite of Leica CloudWorx plug-ins for CAD and VR software, with additional clients being supported in the future.

Now, point cloud rendering performance can keep pace with massive point cloud data sets generated by today’s most advanced scanners such as the Leica ScanStation P40, P30, and P16.

[CloudWorx plug-ins are available for Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and 3ds Max software applications, as well as Bentley MicroStation, AVEVA PDMS, and Intergraph SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant Review, and SmartPlant Isometrics.]

Centralised “Project Vault” for data management
Leica JetStream Project Vault provides a convenient, centralized project sharing platform, enhancing and simplifying multi-user, multi-project work by streamlining project data management and the services environment. Leica JetStream Project Vault is a true archive of project data, including point clouds, images, saved clips and layers from Leica Cyclone, and survey control. It provides a more user-friendly data structure, a simplified data entry-point for users, and the high-performance point cloud files that are an order of magnitude smaller in size! And Leica JetStream Project Vault is user-aware, saving user-created clips and other personalised workspace settings to further enhance individual user productivity across a shared dataset.

Flexible and affordable deployment
Leica JetStream users have affordable deployment options to support their usage needs and accommodate single users to large workgroups. It has multiple components, many of which will be available on an affordable annual subscription basis to allow users the flexibility to adjust yearly costs to match current needs.

In addition to connectivity with all CloudWorx plug-ins, Leica JetStream is planned to also connect directly to Leica Cyclone modules in the future.

Availability
Leica JetStream is planned to be available Q2 2015. Ordering information is available from authorised Leica Geosystems representatives.
