Dayton, Ohio – June 8, 2012 – City of Alexandria, Virginia Transportation Department locates field crews with Android smartphones using Freeance Mobile.
The City’s Transportation Department will start tracking field crews and subcontractor vehicles using Freeance Mobile by building custom GPS tracking and GIS mapping applications for their smartphone deployment.
Using Freeance Mobile enterprise GIS, mapping data will be displayed on Android and other smartphone and tablet devices. These mobile devices will also send GPS locations back to the enterprise GIS for display on web mapping applications.
Freeance Mobile will allow City smartphone users in the field to map new GIS feature points using the phone’s GPS and attaching digital photos with built-in camera.
The City also plans on implementing Freeance Mobile for Cityworks to create and edit work orders and service requests in the field on smartphones and tablets
