How To Find Social Media Profiles by Email Address

August 16, 2022 By GISuser

It’s never been easier to find information about someone online. With websites and social media platforms, information is practically everywhere. Plus, search engines like Google make it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. While you only need an email address to find someone’s social media profile, finding them is easier said than done.

You can focus on the traditional methods, like using a social media search tool or Google search, or enlist the help of a people search engine. People search engines use public records databases to provide you with accurate information about people.

So, read on to learn more about finding social media profiles by email.

The Importance of Finding Someone on Social Media

You may want to find someone’s social media for a few reasons. First and foremost, knowing more about who you’re speaking with can keep you safe when interacting with strangers online. Another benefit is that you can see if someone is who they say they are.

Below are some of the important reasons to find someone on social media:

  • Connect with job prospects and professionals on platforms like LinkedIn
  • Stay up to date with news about someone and their life
  • Connect with old friends and family members
  • Learn about someone you’re meeting for the first time
  • Verifying that someone is who they claim to be

These are only a handful of the reasons to search for someone on social media. All you need is an email and a few minutes of your time.

Using a People Search Engine

People search engines like Information.com use records from thousands of public databases around the country to help you learn more about someone.

All the information is public information you can get on your own, but the benefit of a people search engine is that everything is in one place. If you wanted to find the information yourself, for example, you’d have to visit a handful of government buildings and courthouses.

Fortunately, websites like Information.com make finding someone’s social media profile by email a breeze.

Reverse Email Lookup

One of the best methods for finding someone’s social media account with an email is to use a reverse email lookup. Reverse email lookups are simple tools that only take a few minutes to learn and use. To use one, like the tool featured on Information.com, simply enter someone’s email address into the search bar.

Once you enter their email address, you can scroll through the results to find someone. The good news is that the person you’re looking for is typically the first search result. After you click the person’s name, you can open the report to learn more about them. In some cases, you’ll be asked to include information about their relatives (if you know them).

When using a reverse email lookup tool, the report will show you the following:

  • Full name (first, last, middle initial)
  • Social media accounts
  • Dating profiles
  • Address
  • Alternative email address
  • Licenses
  • Traffic violations
  • Relatives
  • Criminal background
  • Court cases

Depending on who you’re looking for, you might find a lot or a little information when performing a reverse email search. So, don’t get discouraged – you can always run a people search once you have their first and last name.

People Search Engine

People search engines like Information.com are used to help people sort through public records databases. These databases include the following:

  • Birth certificates
  • Social media profiles
  • Websites
  • Criminal backgrounds
  • Known crimes and unsealed records
  • Traffic history
  • Business licensing
  • Emails
  • Addresses
  • Income (if a teacher or some government employee)
  • Businesses

Based on the available information about someone, you can find more than their social media profile with a people search engine.

Another benefit of using a people search engine is that they’re fast and easy to use. Simply enter someone’s first and last name into the search bar to begin your search. In most cases, their first and last name can be found in the email name, domain, or signature. If you can’t find their name within the email, you can always perform a reverse email lookup to find it.

Once you enter their information, the most likely candidate will be the first search result. From there, you can open a report and learn about them. Remember, any public information will be listed there.

Finding People on the Social Media Platform

There are a handful of social media platforms and each platform has different methods for finding someone with an email address. Sure, having someone’s email address is helpful, but you’re going to have to dig further on platforms like Instagram and Twitter. Especially compared to some of the more professional social media platforms like LinkedIn.

That said, we’re going to take you through the steps for each social media platform.

Facebook

Facebook is one of the easiest platforms to find someone by email. The platform has search tools, and you can enter an email into it. The steps to find someone by email on Facebook are listed below:

  1. Create or log in to your Facebook profile.
  2. Visit the search bar and select “People.”
  3. Enter the person’s email address into the search bar.
  4. Scroll through the search results until you find who you’re looking for.
  5. Select their profile and send them a friend request – if they accept, you can learn a lot about them.

Facebook can be tricky to use sometimes, especially if you’re searching for a company by email. Additionally, people might not always have their email connected to their Facebook profiles. For companies, though, you follow the same steps but select “Marketplace” or “Places.”

While typing someone’s email into Facebook’s search tool is adequate, we recommend using their first and last name to perform a people search once you find them on Facebook.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is another social media platform that makes it easy to find someone with only an email. Because the platform is for professionals and networking, most people have their emails connected to their profiles.

To find someone by email on LinkedIn, you can search for them in one of two ways. The first method is to enter their email into the search bar. While this method works, it will show them that you searched for them, so it can’t be anonymous. That said, it’s simple and only takes a few minutes.

On the other hand, you can find someone on LinkedIn by email if you create an Outlook account. Outlook is an email server like Gmail, so it’s not uncommon. To find someone on LinkedIn with Outlook, follow the steps below:

  1. Create a Microsoft account or use your regular Microsoft account (if you have one).
  2. Sign in to Outlook (not the application but the website version) using your new account details.
  3. Go to the “Contacts” section of Outlook.
  4. Create a contact for the person by choosing “Add a Contact.”
  5. Enter the email address you found.
  6. If the person’s account has an email address, they’ll be added to your contacts.

Once you have the first and last name of someone, we recommend against searching for them on LinkedIn. This is due to LinkedIn’s notification system, which alerts users when they’ve been searched. However, you can take their information and perform a people search to learn more about them.

Twitter

Twitter is another platform you can use to find someone with an email. Unfortunately, Twitter is one of the most unreliable ways to find someone’s social media account with only an email. This is due to people not always connecting their email to Twitter.

To find someone by email on Twitter, simply type their email address into the search bar. You can also use a phone number if you found one in the email signature. If someone has their email linked to their Twitter account, it will show up.

Some other platforms like Instagram and Tumblr have similar steps to find someone’s email. Still, these social media platforms aren’t the most reliable. If you do find someone’s name or phone number, it’s better to run a people search or reverse phone lookup.

Google Searches

Google searches can be helpful when looking for someone’s social media profile, especially if you have their email. A search on Google is effective for a few reasons. First and foremost, you can just type the email in and scroll through the results. Additionally, you can look through websites that are associated with an email or perform an advanced Google search.

Using the Email’s Domain

Every email has a domain at the end. The domain is the website that hosts an email address. So, if someone has a domain at the end of their email, you can search for that domain on Google. When you reach the website, look for a “Team,” “Staff,” or “About” page. In most cases, team members will have their names and a few social media accounts they have linked to the website. Most professionals will at least have their LinkedIn profile linked to the website.

Advanced Google Searches

Another method is to perform an advanced Google search. Advanced Google searches are simple to perform and only require the domain or first and last name of someone who emailed you.

To perform an advanced search, enter the email into the search bar but place quotations around the domain of the email; the “@___” part. The next step is to scroll through the results until you find the person you’re looking for or their website.

Emails that aren’t connected to individuals or websites won’t always show up in advanced Google searches. So, keep that in mind when searching for someone’s social media profile by email.

Find Someone’s Social Media Account Today

Finding someone can be a daunting task, especially if you don’t know where to start. Countless hours of Google searches can seem efficient, but it’s one of the slowest ways of finding someone. In fact, even typing someone’s email address into a social media search bar is unreliable.

For these reasons, we always recommend using a reverse email lookup tool or people search engine to find someone’s social media profile. These tools can be used for almost every platform and once you have their first and last name, finding them becomes a breeze.
