NSPS and URISA to Co-Host Virtual Survey & GIS Summit

September 2, 2021 By GISuser

Des Plaines, IL (September 2, 2021) The National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) are pleased to announce a new partnership and the return of the Survey & GIS Summit.

Please join us virtually, November 3-5, 2021, as leaders from the national land surveying and GIS professional societies (NSPS and URISA) explore the similarities and differences between the two professions. Industry experts will share real-world examples of new opportunities and how the two professions often converge as a result. Keynote speakers will present some compelling insight into this convergence with the focus on fostering healthy dialogue and providing a collaborative space to advance towards building a better world – together.

The Summit program will fill two four-hour days (November 3-4) and the third day will provide an opportunity for Summit sponsors to showcase their technology and solutions. The event is free for NSPS and URISA members to attend, with a $25 registration fee available for nonmembers. The event is also free for employees of Corporate and Government Agency Summit Sponsors.

Leaders of the host organizations are excited about the collaboration:

“The Survey and GIS Summit is truly a unique experience where professionals from both the land surveying and mapping industries can come together, exchange ideas and find updates on all the latest technologies from both industries.  The summit serves as a base for developing our understanding of each other’s fields of practice, which hopefully will lead into innovative solutions for attendees to take back and build off of.  Our wonderful professions are becoming more and more intertwined every day.  The combination of professional development along with gaining insight into opportunities to leverage yourself and your business into the future is what makes this event one of a kind.”
–  Amanda Allred, PLS, Vice President, NSPS

“The Survey and GIS Summit delivers a rich history of bringing together surveyors and GIS professionals to share, learn, and prepare for our rapidly changing markets.  URISA, the professional organization for the GIS community and NSPS, the professional organization for land surveyors will come together to deliver a focused, valuable virtual conference loaded with great presentations and workshops.  Attend, learn, grow and connect!” – Brent Jones, PLS, President-Elect, URISA

Delivered from 2003-2010 at the Esri International User Conference, the event was known as the Esri Survey & Engineering GIS Summit. The second iteration of the event, the Survey Summit, was co-hosted by Esri and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), which later merged with NSPS. It was held concurrently with the Esri International User Conference (Esri UC) in 2012. The event had been a part of the Esri UC for a number of years.
