GEO-Energy Summit to Focus on National Security and Energy Independence

September 23, 2014 By Editor

The GEO-Energy Summit and Educational Forum will take place November 12-13, 2014 at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration, hosted by GEO Huntsville and Energy Huntsville in conjunction with the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

The GEO-Energy Summit 2014 will host corporations and government agencies demonstrating emerging technologies that sustain our future energy needs, work toward interoperable and effective technology integration, and provide the backbone for economic security.

“This Summit provides the opportunity to bring the area’s technology companies together to discuss the synergies and recognize the challenges of integrating technologies that can fundamentally impact our national security,” said Joe Francica, conference co-chairman, editor-in-chief, Directions Magazine and lead for GEO Huntsville.

“Huntsville’s expertise in geospatial and energy management is well-established and our technology footprint is positioned for growth given our outstanding heritage in space exploration and innovation,” said Jay Newkirk, conference co-chairman and lead for Energy Huntsville.

The Summit will be held November 12 and 13 in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration auditorium at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center (USSRC) in Huntsville, Alabama. Mayor Tommy Battle and Dr. Deborah Barnhart, CEO of the USSRC, will provide the welcome address.  The Summit will feature plenary panel sessions with senior executives from organizations such as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the TVA and many others.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Robert Cardillo, newly appointed director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. Guest speakers will include. Bill Johnson, CEO of the Tennessee Valley Authority; Mark Reichardt, president of the Open Geospatial Consortium; and Ambassador Lincoln P. Bloomfield, Jr., chairman of the Stimson Center.
