Dewberry Awarded Five-Year USGS Contract for Geospatial Products and Services

April 12, 2016 By Editor

Indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract will support National Geospatial Program

Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, was selected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for its geospatial products and services contract (GPSC) in support of the National Geospatial Program (NGP). Based on the firm’s National Enhanced Elevation Assessment Study, USGS initiated the 3-D Elevation Program (3DEP) in response to the growing need for high-quality topographic data and 3-D representations of natural and constructed features across the nation.

Under the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, USGS will assign task orders to Dewberry on an as-needed basis, primarily requiring airborne lidar and ifsar acquisition and processing; high-resolution topographic product generation; orthoimagery acquisition and processing; photogrammetric mapping; and cadastral surveying. Dewberry may also design thematic maps; perform land characterization; generate and validate raster and vector products; acquire and analyze multi-temporal, hyper-spectral, and ancillary data; and work with second-generation orthophoto, digital multi-spectral, and hyper-spectral images.

“We look forward to adding five years of service to our nearly 20-year relationship with USGS,” said Dewberry Senior Vice President Phil Thiel. “Some of our leading specialists have spent a majority of their careers working on USGS contracts, executing some of the first lidar task orders, producing the first digital orthophotos, and authoring a host of mapping standards since 1998. We believe in 3DEP’s potential to improve our nation’s industry, economy, and infrastructure by providing accurate geospatial information and are humbled to have been selected by USGS.”

The five-year contract consists of an initial 12-month ordering period with four 12-month options and a $750,000,000 maximum total dollar amount. Dewberry has been reselected five times since 1998 for the USGS IDIQ contract.
