Test whether your Android anti-malware solution is configured correctly

February 28, 2014 By Editor

San Francisco – 26 February, 2014– AMTSO, The Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization announces an extension to its popular feature check solution allowing users of Android anti-malware security products to test whether their product is configured correctly to stop the many different types of attacks.

The AMTSO web site now hosts a number of easy to use tools to ensure that Android anti-malware security products are configured to protect you from viruses, drive-by-downloads, potentially unwanted applications (PUA), phishing and cloud attacks. The tests can be accessed directly from the AMTSO home page www.amtso.org.

Using newly developed tests and existing industry standards AMTSO is providing a single place for a user to test their configuration. The test pages are already supported by the following vendors;

AMTSO expect more vendors will add detection of these tools to their solutions in the future.  If your product is not listed then please contact your vendor.

Dr. Richard Ford, President and CEO of AMTSO, said “By adding Android to our feature check pages consumers and businesses can now ensure that their mobile anti-malware security product is configured correctly and is working on multiple levels to protect their valuable digital assets. The AMTSO team understands that the dependence on mobile devices means that users need to feel safe and secure in the knowledge that our protection is on and running”

About AMTSO
The Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO™) was founded in May 2008 as an international non-profit association that focuses on the addressing the global need for improvement in the objectivity, quality and relevance of anti-malware testing methodologies. AMTSO membership is open to academics, reviewers, publications, testers and vendors, subject to guidelines determined by AMTSO.
Members of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO) have published guidelines that, for the first time, set recognized standards for testing security software. The standards have been developed and agreed to by more than 40 security experts, product testers and members of the media from around the world. The creation and publication of these standards is a critical first step in fulfilling AMTSO’s mission to improve the testing of anti-malware products!
