Recent Maxar high-resolution satellite imagery of the Mariupol area reveals the existence of a second cemetery that has expanded over the past month and includes several long trenches that are/will likely become new grave sites.
The cemetery is near Vynohradne, Ukraine (approximately 12 kilometers east of Mariupol) and is located at 47.097, 37.713. A review of Maxar satellite images from mid-March through mid-April indicate that the new excavations at Vynohradne consist of parallel trenches and each trench is approximately 40-meters long. The initial expansion of the new set of trenches occurred between March 22-29, 2022, approximately the same time that new graves were first being established near the Manhush cemetery on the northwest outskirts of Mariupol. Over the past several weeks (April 1-15th), additional trenches have been excavated at the Vynohradne cemetery.
