Is It Good Idea to Get Temporary Jobs Through A Job Agency?

November 3, 2020 By Editor

Temporary jobs offered by a job agency are short term duties which take a period ranging from one day to not more than several weeks.

Is It Good Idea to Get Temporary Jobs Through A Job Agency?

There are so many temporary agencies acting as intermediaries between employers and those seeking jobs. It is mostly argued that one should keep off temporary jobs and look for permanent gigs. However, the fact is that in most cases temporary jobs turn into full-time job offers within the same organizations.

Temping is a form of staying busy while earning something as you wait patiently for your next big gig. Team Global has compiled the following advantages and disadvantages of temporary work. Before you look for a temp work through a job agency be aware of the following.

Advantages of Temp Job

Here are some benefits that should make job seekers think about temping.

It is an immediate source of income to meet daily needs like groceries and utilities.

Companies mostly ‘test drive’ temporary employees before they can give them a full time job or ‘temp- to- perm’ jobs.

A gap of missing work gets filled in your CV which attracts managers who can hire in future.

It gives the flexibility of earning money and doing something while your prospective jobs are open.

Temporary jobs are the best introduction to new fields and can lead you to more permanent opportunity within the same companies.

They give you a chance to build your work experience in areas you have never worked on before.

There are pros of working well and maintaining discipline. Temporary work can bring long –term job either in the same or in a different company if you have positive attitude and keep your focus on networking.

Disadvantages of Temporary work.

Despite the many merits of temping through a job agency, there are a few drawbacks of the same. Besides, you should look at the both sides so you don’t get into something and you start contemplating opting out. Here are some cons:

The company manager and other employees might fail to accommodate you while learning the new job.

Very low payments with little to no benefits offered by job agency.

Assignments last for few days sometimes one to two days then you will have to look for another chance.

Complaints from temporary employees being treated unfairly compared to full time workers within the same company.

Most complaints on temping are on being new at any job. Thus, it is crucial to have patience on yourself while learning your new job duties even in situations where your co- workers are not willing to help. Those organizations and employment agency offering jobs to temporary employees will always know if you can work hard and start work on time. The best part about temping is that their duties only last fir 1-14 days so if the job isn’t interesting to you, there is no need to do it since your next position might be the job of your dreams.

Reasons Why Job Seekers Should Consider Temping through an employment Agency.

Temping gives more advantages than disadvantages thus it is not bad for your career. It gives flexibility in looking for jobs and you will still be earning. Temping can be a great career move in various situations. For instance, the following circumstances are good for temping:

Doing a side hustle to add something on your primary career.

Campus students in need of money or job during holiday period.

Adults who have not being working and want an easier way to start working.

Single parents and other groups of people who need funds to cover bills without being tied to long term commitments.

Far from the popular notations, a CV with a temporary job experience makes you to stand out. It fills in the missing gaps in your history of employment. It also shows the hiring managers your ‘can-do’ attitude and the good work ethics you have.

In conclusion, to answer the question temping is bad for your career, you find it being beneficial since it will help you get your next full time job. However, temping is made to meet your desires, so never fear going out and finding something new for you don’t know what you  may learn as you earn income in the process.
