More Than 200 Scholarships Awarded Averaging $2,681 per Student
Pittsburgh, PA — August 20, 2020 — The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) names its scholarship recipients for the 2020–2021 academic year. The nonprofit awarded scholarships totaling $501,500 to 187 recipients, averaging $2,681 per student. The list of students and the 120 colleges, technical schools, and universities they will be attending are posted on the PGSF website.
“Scholarship recipients will be attending a notable number of schools across 35 states, from large universities to smaller colleges and trade schools. The PGSF scholarships are instrumental to our industry for fostering the education and advancement of the next generation from all corners of the US,” comments Jules Van Sant, Chair, PGSF.
PGSF scholarships are renewable up to four years, and students do not have to reapply if they meet the PGSF criteria of maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better and remaining enrolled full-time (12 credits or more) in the graphic communications field.
Since 1956, the PGSF has dispensed undergraduate college and technical school scholarships and graduate fellowship assistance. More than 200 scholarships and fellowships have been awarded each year for the past several years, and the number of applications more than doubled for 2020–2021 over the previous year.
“The economics of being a college student today can be overwhelming. With the average student debt in the US being almost $30,000, the amount of assistance the PGSF provides can often be the determining factor that lets a student stay in school,” states Patrick Klarecki, Professor, Graphic Media Management, Ferris State University, College of Business. “Scholarship money made available from the PGSF helps Ferris State attract quality students to enroll in our Graphic Media Management program.”
Klarecki reports that Ferris State University’s Graphic Media Management program receives more student scholarships from the PGSF than any other business program, averaging about ten per year.
