Planet Labs Releases Open California Data

October 23, 2015 By GISuser

The crew at Plant Labs have announced the following: “we’re releasing our growing California archive under an a CC BY-SA license. Join our community of image analysts, scientists, developers, and researchers”

From the PlanetLab blog:

Join our community of image analysts, scientists, developers, and researchers to get access to our California imagery archive. Perform in-depth data analysis, develop exciting new applications and tools, and to power products with the Planet Labs, RapidEye satellite, and Landsat imagery archives. With California’s data right at your fingertips, what will you build?

We’re just getting started; and we’re excited to have you join us as we develop our platform, increase data frequency and expand our coverage. As we work towards a daily image of the entire planet, access California data published two weeks after acquisition.

Open California is Planet’s first open data release. We will open up other regions to our community in the future… stay tuned!
