An interesting look at facebook Home from Forbes and why the service, only available on 5 or 6 devices, is sorta MEH!
From Forbes…
Home is itself a collection of Facebook apps. And once Facebook inevitably starts surfacing brand and business updates on Home, in the form of ads plastered on your home screen, its focus on “people, not apps” may look a little fuzzy.
Even more important, a host of realities weighs against Facebook Home making a near-term impact on rivals such as Google or even Facebook’s own users. Here’s why:
* A huge chunk of the smartphone market is missing. Facebook Home won’t work on iPhones. And from CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s comments about how controlled the Apple experience is, it seems unlikely we’ll see Home on an iPhone anytime soon, if ever. Android phones may be gaining in numbers on iPhones, but any software that doesn’t work on iPhones seems crippled from the start.
