The Benefits of Living and Working in Singapore

March 18, 2021 By Editor

Singapore is a country that has earned the respect of the world, through its ethics and its determination to do everything at a high standard.

The island nation is consistently rated very high for the ease of doing business. And if you consider the amount of wealth the country has amassed despite having very limited land and resources. Singapore is a success story in many ways, it has managed to keep up with the developed world and remains an essential international port for both land and sea. Here is a look at some of the benefits of living and working in Singapore.

  • Great Place to do Business: Singapore is commonly referred to as the world’s easiest place to do business. This is a country that has little use for red tape and understands the conditions businesses need to operate. However, to start a business in Singapore you will have to have your ducks in a row. To register a business, you need to enlist the services of an agent to guide you through the process. That being said, registering a Singapore company, is relatively straightforward. But first you will have to qualify for a work permit or pass.
  • Lovely Place to Live: Singapore has it all, great food, great art, and culture, and beautiful climate and scenery too. Singapore excels at being organized and keeping things in order. It is a clean and safe environment, which is very easy to explore. The extensive road and high-tech transit systems can get you anywhere you need to go, with ease. There is also an abundance of choice when it comes to living accommodations and schools. However, some of these things can be considered expensive, depending on what you are used to.
  • Excellent Location: Singapore has done very well for itself partially because of its strategic location in the world. Essentially all the shipping between the Pacific and Indian oceans makes its way through Singapore’s waters. And not only that, Changi, the famous airport is consistently rated among the best, if not the best, international airport in the world. Changi is a major hub for air travel, which means that from Singapore, you can fly directly to many important world centres. The location of Singapore is also fortuitous because of its nearness to all the popular tourist destinations of South East Asia. Most locations, from Vietnam to Thailand and Indonesia, are less than a 3-hour flight away.
  • Easy Social Atmosphere: They say it is very easy to make friends in Singapore. Perhaps this is because it is such an international country. English is the main language spoken in Singapore, which is beneficial to western travellers. Although the accent and variations of expressions will take a while to learn. There is a huge expat community that will welcome you and show you the ins and outs.

Singapore is a unique country in the world, it really cannot be compared to any other, except perhaps Hong Kong. If you are a respectful, law-abiding citizen, you will be welcomed and given the right to earn a living and run your business the way you see fit. If you have the means to make it happen, Singapore will not let you down.
