Here’s details of an interesting a pilot program that’s just wrapping up that involves the State of Delaware’s Department of Education and UBTECH, a global robotics and AI company
UBTECH’s ADIBOT system, which protects from Covid-19 by disinfecting the air and surfaces, was deployed in two schools in the Christina School District in Wilmington. A single ADIBOT robot can disinfect 99.9% of Covid-19 in a 900-square foot room in under four minutes. The goal of the pilot was to measure cost efficiency, disinfection rates and gather feedback from maintenance/custodial staff. That feedback is especially important since they were initially skeptical the robots would replace them, and their jobs would no longer be needed. Once they began using them and recognized they could keep their jobs and perform their duties without the fear of contracting Covid-19, their feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Most schools employ electrostatic spraying, which is more hazardous than ADIBOT’s UV-C technology. Studies show electrostatic spraying chemicals worsens respiratory issues like asthma, which one in ten students suffer from, and does not lower the risk of contracting Covid-19 for frontline cleaning staff. Additionally, electrostatic spraying is much costlier than ADIBOT’s technology, which is being offered by UBTECH at a significantly lower cost and on a deferred payment basis to ensure the budget crisis is not further exacerbated and to help maintain safe environments.
