Calendar of GIS & Technology Conferences, Events Canceled or Switched to Virtual Format due to #Coronavirus

The conference and event market has been hit hard due to the spread of coronavirus around the World. Many events are heeding public health agency warnings and discouraging large public gatherings. As a result, many conferences and events will be canceled or switched to an online or virtual format. The following is a list of GIS, Geotech, and technology industry events that have been affected. We will continue to update this resource.

Mobile World Conference (MWC) – This annual gathering of mobile technology industry professionals in Barcelona, Spain is HUGE, and it was also one of the first large events to be canceled due to the outbreak. Learn more

Esri DevSummit, Palm Springs, March 10, 2020 – Event has been canceled and will proceed as an online, virtual event. See more

Blue Raster DevSummit Social – Due to the cancellation of events at DevSummit, the Blue Raster social planned for Tuesday night will not take place.

The Developer Summit will be a virtual event and not a live, in-person conference due to the continuously evolving circumstances surrounding the coronavirus.

AAG Annual meeting, Denver, CO – In-person Annual Meeting in Denver is canceled as AAG looks to facilitate virtual meeting options and postpone key aspects of the meeting

URISA, 24th Annual GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference – from Urisa, In recognition of the growing health risks worldwide posed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and decisions by governments and businesses to curtail activities over the next few weeks, it is with great regret that we inform you that IAAO and URISA have decided to cancel the 2020 GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference, scheduled to take place March 23-26, 2020 in Louisville Kentuck Read more

ILMF and GeoWeek, March 23-25, DC –  From the event team, “Due to the magnitude of the public health and safety issues posed by the COVID-19 outbreaks and contagion, we have no choice but to postpone the upcoming edition of ILMF/Geo Week, which was planned to take place on March 23-25, 2020” Learn more

Google I/O 2020 – Cancelled – From Google, “Due to concerns around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other health authorities, we have decided to cancel the physical Google I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre.”

Google Cloud Next, April 6-8, 2020 – The company said it planned to replace the in-person conference with “streamed keynotes, breakout sessions, interactive learning and digital ‘ask an expert’ sessions with Google teams.”

Collision Conference 2020 – From the organizers, “Given the uncertainty facing a large number of public events around the world due to the progression of COVID-19, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone Collision from taking place until June 2021.” See more

Facebook F8 Developer Conference – From Facebook… “In light of the growing concerns around COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person component of F8 this year, in order to prioritize the health and safety of our developer partners, employees and everyone who helps put F8 on. We plan to replace the in-person F8 event with locally hosted events, videos and live-streamed content”

Safe Software FME USer conferences – From Safe (March 12) “Due to the Covid-19 outbreak we are canceling the Safe-hosted FME World Tour events this year. We are working to bring them online and will be providing details shortly. ” Stay posted about updates from them #FMEUC

International Esri User Conference – Scheduled for July 13-20, 2020 – No update on status as of yet. Stay Tuned and follow @esri on Twitter for updates!

ENVI Analytics Symposium (EAS) Boulder, Colorado on August 25-27 – Still a go at time of writing this.  Building on the past five years, you will see the latest trends and technology and glean ideas from other successful real-world analytical applications.  Space is Very Limited – The 2020 EAS will be limited to just 200 attendees in order to provide high-quality interaction.

SSPInnovations #SSPiLLUMINATE.  Canceled / postponed – from the company, “We are currently reworking iLLUMINATE and anticipate holding a digital version in the coming months in some fashion.” Learn more

#VAGeoCon2020 – The annual Virginia GIS Conference sponsored by VAMLIS has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. The conference (VAGeoCon2020) will now be held on October 27-28, 2020 at the same location, the Richmond Hilton Short-Pump Suites.

AUVSI Xponential , All things unmanned, May 4-7, Boston – From the event planners, Based on currently available information, and with the best interests of our members, exhibitors, attendees and the global community in mind, the AUVSI Board of Directors has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020. Recognizing the importance of this event to your organizations, our ecosystem, and partners in Boston, we are working on shifting the dates of XPONENTIAL 2020 to a more suitable timeframe and have tentatively identified the dates of August 10-12 for the 2020 event.
