Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council ‘Think Digital’ with Web GIS

January 13, 2020 By GISuser

Cadcorp SIS WebMap selected for modernising access to council services

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is undertaking a comprehensive modernisation programme to improve access to services. As part of its ‘Think Digital’ strategy, it required a new system that would interactively support spatial data from across the Council. The system had to offer a web based front end and deliver public access via mobile phones and tablets.

The Council selected Cadcorp SIS WebMap, an off-the-shelf application suitable for intranet, internet and mobile device use. This included Cadcorp Local Knowledge™ that automatically returns answers to questions about a locality, and ReportIT to allow users to report and locate incidents on a map. An Edit facility is available for specific internal users of SIS WebMap to create and maintain spatial data. Underpinning the system is the geospatial web services engine, Cadcorp GeognoSIS®.

James Young, Corporate GIS Manager at Welwyn Hatfield Council commented: “The Council is committed to providing efficient and accessible services, using modern digital methods, to serve the public better. Implementing Cadcorp SIS WebMap will help us in achieving that aim.”

Cadcorp SIS is used by a number of Local Authorities who want to manage and share spatial information with members, staff and residents. For further information visit: http://cdcp.io/lg.
