Solutions for wide-area mapping and infrastructure/mine surveys at Geomatics Indaba 2016

September 7, 2016 By Editor

September 6, 2016 — Teledyne Optech is pleased to announce that it will present its latest 3D surveying technologies for use on, under and above the ground at Geomatics Indaba 2016 in Ekurhuleni, South Africa. Visit us from September 12-14 at booth 38.

Solutions for wide-area mapping and infrastructure/mine surveys at Geomatics Indaba 2016

Visitors will learn how the Optech Galaxy airborne lidar improves efficiency and data quality at a presentation by Teledyne Optech’s Fabrizio Tadina. Mr. Tadina will describe how the Galaxy’s SwathTRAK™ technology lets operators cover ground rapidly at high altitudes and maintain its swath width on the ground even in mountainous terrain. Surveyors interested in wide-area mapping can catch this presentation on Wednesday, September 14 at 2:40-3:00 pm in the Main Hall of the Transnet School of Rail.

Infrastructure mapping in Africa is set to become far more affordable with the advent of the Optech Eclipse airborne lidar/camera collection system. Designed for operation by the pilot, the highly automated Eclipse reduces survey costs for corridor and small-area projects by eliminating the need for a dedicated operator. The Optech Lynx mobile survey system is also supporting infrastructure development by capturing 3D lidar data and imagery of transportation corridors, powerlines, and open-pit mines. With three models to choose from, surveyors can ask Teledyne Optech’s experts for advice on whether the mapping-grade MG, survey-grade SG-S, or dual-sensor SG best fits their application.

Meanwhile, underground mine operators can learn about the latest upgrades to the Optech CMS Cavity Monitoring System. Installed on a tripod, boom or cart, the CMS rapidly collects lidar data from ore passes, storage bins and other dangerous locations without putting the operator at risk. The new V500 model includes truly wireless operation for faster setup, an internal camera for visual inspections, and in-field data georeferencing.
