Learn to Model Spatial Data and Quantify Uncertainty Using Esri ArcGIS

May 19, 2016 By GISuser

When modeling spatial phenomena, collecting data at every location in an area of interest is often impossible.

With the tools in Esri’s ArcGIS Pro application in ArcGIS for Desktop, coupled with the spatial interpolation capabilities of ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst, you can estimate unknown values and make predictions based on sample points in your data. To learn how, tune in to the free live training seminar Modeling the Unknown: Spatial Interpolation with ArcGIS Pro on May 26, 2016.

Uncertainty is an inherent aspect of all spatial interpolation, and the seminar’s presenters will demonstrate how to quantify this using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst. You will learn, for example, how to create prediction surfaces using kriging methods and sample data. You also will learn about the advantages of using Esri’s new geostatistical multivariate prediction tool, Empirical Bayesian Kriging (EBK) Regression Prediction.

After viewing the seminar, you will understand how to

  • Apply kriging methods to interpolate a prediction surface based on sample data.
  • Use the Empirical Bayesian Kriging tool to create a prediction model that is more accurate than one generated using more traditional kriging methods.
  • Use the EBK Regression Prediction tool to predict the values of spatial phenomena using secondary variables and provide more accurate predictions at unsampled locations.

GIS analysts, scientists, researchers, and others interested in visualizing, modeling, and predicting spatial phenomena will find this live training seminar useful. People who work in atmospheric analysis, precision agriculture, mining, oil and gas exploration, and environmental studies may be particularly interested in attending.

You will need a broadband Internet connection and an Esri Account to watch the live training seminar. Creating an Esri Account is easy and free: visit esri.com/lts, click Login at the top right, and register your name and email address.
