IN.gov Honored in 2014 Best of the Web Awards

October 21, 2014 By GISuser

IN.gov is honored to be recognized as a finalist for the 2014 Best of the Web Awards, a joint venture between Government Technology, (www.govtech.com) and e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government. The Best of the Web Awards are intended to highlight the best public sector websites and Web applications across the United States.

“The Indiana Office of Technology is pleased to accept this prestigious recognition from Government Technology and e.Republic. Each year we strive to ensure the IN.gov program provides user-friendly, efficient and innovative services to Indiana constituents. This award allows us to validate the efforts taken, and push us to provide additional services and features in years to come,” said Robert Paglia, Deputy CIO at the Indiana Office of Technology.

The Best of the Web Awards are judged in three categories – state, city, and county. Almost 300 government websites were nominated based on their innovation, functionality, efficiency, and economy. The judging panel comprised of last year’s winners, former government officials, and executives from the Center for Digital Government.

The recent IN.gov redesign included a significant number of enhancements that benefited visitors to the site. This included swipe functionality for users with touch screen services, statewide office listings on an easy to use map, a video tour to help users navigate the fresh design, and much more. In addition to design features, the IN.gov categories were restructured to allow users to locate services more intuitively.

In order to create a unique and customizable experience, IN.gov unveiled the my.IN.gov Portal. Users can create an account through existing social logins to personalize their IN.gov experience and provide quick access to the services they utilize the most. Additionally, location-based information is displayed, which includes travel information and state offices based on the user’s current location.

The IN.gov website is visited by over 3.8 million unique users per month, of which nearly 40 percent are mobile users. To help meet the demands of mobile users, the state of Indiana streamlined the responsive design that allows mobile users to view content easily on any device.

The IN.gov Team is proud to be considered a finalist for the 2014 Best of the Web and looks forward to future innovations for IN.gov, the official website for the state of Indiana.
