See the New Features at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Oct. 27-31
Maptech (Amesbury, MA) – The integration of touch screen technology is the heart of the Maptech i3 multi-functional, hardware/software/chart data system. At the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Maptech will show the latest i3 – Model 300 and new enhancements: Video Cameras, Home Trip Planner, and Entertainment module.
Model 300: Key i3 Features:
· New flat touch screen glass panel display uses Near-Field Imaging (NFI) for greater scratch resistance, as well as anti-glare and anti-reflective filters for excellent sunlight viewing.
· Greater computer power to support current and future add-on modules.
Highlights – See and Touch the i3 at the Maptech Booth 417- 418
1. Video Cameras: Not all onboard cameras function in same way. Whereas others use stationary, fixed cameras, the i3 cameras pan and tilt – and it’s all controlled by touching the i3 screen which activates the camera’s position and view. Drag your finger across the screen and the camera pans or tilts showing the area in greater detail. Control up to four marinized cameras that can be located anywhere on the boat, including the engine room. MSRP: $1,499 for the first one and $1,199 for others
2. Home Trip Planning Software & Charts on DVD: Create routes, tracks, and waypoints in the comfort of your home or office. Plan your destination using the full function i3 software with the Chart DVDs; and copy your route to the included thumb drive once onboard insert the drive into the special i3 USB plug and the destination plan is automatically transferred to the i3 touch screen.
3. Entertainment Module Plus “Safe-View:” Watch your favorite movies from the helm. The exclusive i3 “Safe-View” feature allows video operation only when the boat is stationary. If you are watching a video and the boat moves 200 feet or more the i3 system automatically turns off the Entertainment mode and switches to navigation so you can see where you are. MSRP: $499.00.
4. “Smart-Photos in Real-Time: Model 300 supports “smart-photos” – now you can see your vessel position in real-time in the i3 navigation photos.
Summary:
Trying to capture the wonder of the i3 without actually touching the screen is virtually impossible. Because of the total integration of touch screen technology the i3 system is in a class all by itself.
Available in 12 and 15 inch touch screen sizes, the i3 comes pre-loaded with NOAA charts and Maptech 3D contour charts and navigation photos with complete coverage for the United States coastline. The cost for the base navigation system is $12,999 (12 inch) and $14,999 (15 inch). Other i3 add on options include: radar ($4,200-$9,500), communications (powered by SkyMate – $1,999 plus subscription), weather (The Weather Channel – $1,899 plus subscription), and 3D Fishfinder ($1,199).
The i3 is the only system built from the ground up that takes advantage of touch screen technology and making complicated tasks like GPS chart navigation, deciphering radar, communications, and obtaining real-time visual weather data no more complicated than touching and dragging your finger across the screen. No strange buttons to master or lengthy manuals to endure – just touch the screen and to open up a whole new world of boating.
