Viamente shows off Web Services 1.0, the innovative technology services for planning, scheduling

February 3, 2010 By Editor

Milan, February 3rd 2010 – Viamente announces today the launch of a set of innovative technology services for planning, scheduling and for routing optimization that enables remarkable savings in most of the operating expenditures involved in transportation: fewer vehicles, less fuel, less driving time.

Now a full range of optimization tools are available via Web Services for the Enterprises and for those Solution Providers who want to bring more value and innovation to their customers while providing compelling SaaS consumption-based services.

Viamente Web Services 1.0 enable an immediate integration with the IT system and brings a decisive enrichment with a new set of functions. Without any requirement of local maps, the daily data on pickups and deliveries are sent from the IT system to the Viamente platforms where they are processed in real-time by complex proprietary algorithms. The entire process takes seconds, running on constantly updated maps and taking into consideration all the logistic constraints of the real-world scenarios (limited capacity, time windows, compatibility of skills, average speeds by road class, re-filling depots, …).

The result is the optimal assignments, schedules and routing in such a way that the fleet is led to visit all the waypoints at minimum cost. Beside the ordered sequences for each vehicle, a variety of additional information and formats are made available: KML for GIS systems, files for GPS navigators and PDAs,  turn-by-turn driving directions, and integrations with legacy Fleet Management systems (Tracking and Navigation).

Today on http://www.viamente.com/ a freely available demo, based on a simple and intuitive Web App, shows off the potential of Viamente Web Services 1.0.

"The need of Enterprises and System Integrators" points out Antonio Perini, Business Manager of Viamente "is to ensure the continuous evolution of the IT systems with no development and investment efforts. They need ready-to-use, easy-to-integrate functions that pay themselves back day by day with the same value they generate. More than ever today the services are required to be highly-performing, highly-scalable and up-to-date in order to respond dynamically and effectively to the constant demand of reducing costs and improving the level of service. The goal? It’s dual: maximizing profits and ensuring a sustainable business of mobility".
