Open Source GIS Platform Expands Database Options for Enterprise Customers

New York, NY & Washington, DC – June 24, 2014 — Boundless, the leading provider of open source geospatial software and services, is expanding its partnership with MongoDB, Inc. to include support for MongoDB in OpenGeo Suite.  The integration will allow enterprise customers to have mores choices for databases to power their geo-enabled applications.  Boundless already uses MongoDB to power hosted services such as Mapmeter, which monitors the performance and value of geospatial deployments.

MongoDB has garnered attention through the ongoing development and adoption of its eponymous database solution, which is optimized to address many of today’s big data challenges. The work demonstrates Boundless’ commitment to open source innovation along with its mission to provide interoperability for OpenGeo Suite components.

“MongoDB excels at managing high-volume geospatial data, which makes it a great fit for our customers looking at modern solutions to provide the support they need for their enterprise applications,” said Boundless CTO Juan Marin. “MongoDB offers easy horizontal scaling and schema flexibility for modern web applications and distributed systems.”

With the upcoming release of OpenGeo Suite 4.1, Boundless customers will receive exclusive access to an extension that allows GeoServer to store spatial data in MongoDB and publish it to the web.
