Satellite Imagery: Myanmar Protests and “We Want Democracy” mural

February 17, 2021 By Editor

Maxar Technologies recently collected new satellite images of four cities in Myanmar where protests have been seen (and continue) including: Yangon, Mandalay, Myitkyina and Naypyitaw

Note in particular, yesterday’s imagery (February 16th) of Mandalay, where a “We Want Democracy” mural has been painted on the street near the Myanmar Institute of Information. (Note: Maxar imaged Mandalay with both its WorldView-2 (WV2) satellite as well as its WorldView-1 (WV1) satellite. The best look of the mural came from WV1, which collects only in black and white. Both images are included.) Maxar continues to monitor the region for new activity.
