MARKHAM, Ontario, Canada – October 19, 2017: PCI Geomatics, a world-leading developer of remote sensing and photogrammetric software and systems, will be co-hosting “Geomatica Day” with its local partner Sysdeco. This annual event has been held in Rome every fall since 2012.
The event will take place October 23rd, 2017, and be held at Sysdeco’s offices, located in central Rome. Since 2012, Sysdeco and PCI Geomatics have held “Geomatica Day” for remote sensing experts in Italy who have an interest in working with advanced image processing software to develop innovative methods to derive information from satellite, aerial and drone imagery.
Presentations will include new innovative technologies developed by PCI Geomatics and introduced in the latest version of its desktop software, Geomatica 2017. New capabilities have been introduced including Object Based Image Analysis (OBIA), InSAR processing, and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) extraction using semi-global matching techniques. Presentations will also include Python based workflows developed to process satellite imagery in a highly automated manner, as well as Sentinel-2 image processing by the Italian National Agency for New Technologies (ENEA).
The meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for customers in Italy to meet with PCI Geomatics and Sysdeco staff, and to obtain hands on training in the use of the latest technology developed to process imagery. The training will include InSAR processing, working with Copernicus data from Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellites, as well as extracting Digital Elevation Models from high resolution imagery using Geomatica.
