From StatsCan:

Using your knowledge of your neighbourhood in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, along with an online mapping tool called OpenStreetMap, you and other members of the public will be able to input the location, physical attributes and other features of local buildings.
You can

  • visit the map editor application and start mapping
  • select buildings and provide information by filling out the form on the map editor application
  • place a marker if you know about a shop, service or business at a specific location, and fill out as much of the form as you can
  • map your own business.

Please note that this is a pilot project developed in collaboration with a community of stakeholders. As such, the open source application is in a testing phase and may not fulfill all of the users’ needs with regards to accessibility.
When you are ready, click one of the following to start:

As a project contributor, you can help create a free and open source of information on commercial, industrial, government and other buildings in Canada. We need your support to close this important data gap! Your work will improve your community’s knowledge of its buildings, and in turn inform policies and programs designed to help you.
