In preparation for the launch of iOS 10, AccuWeather developed exclusive iOS app features to provide the best-in-class weather experience. AccuWeather AccUcast™, the only crowdsourcing tool with a live crowdsourced weather map that provides current weather conditions submitted by users in an interactive global animation display, has expanded new features in the AccuWeather iOS app. Along with an engaging new look, users can now report thunderstorm and fog with their local weather conditions, in addition to hazards including wind, slippery roads, flooding, and visibility to actively participate in reporting current conditions. Users can also share weather photos and videos with the AccuWeather app’s new upload feature.
AccuWeather has added the new dark theme display option to the AccuWeather app, allowing users to set the color of the app to either a light or dark version. Included in the launch is the ability to set the color theme to “Automatic” which will change the app automatically based on the time of day/night. This feature is also included in the enhanced AppleTV app, released on the same day as AccuWeather’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch app.
iOS 10 enhancements also include new notification features to receive weather push alerts for multiple locations, helping to keep friends and family safe, in addition to receiving alerts from the user’s current location. Also included are fun weather stickers for use in iMessage, enhancements to the Today widget for better, faster access with integration of iOS10 design standards, and additional use of Apple’s 3D Touch throughout the AccuWeather app experience.
The iOS 10 update provides category-leading innovation to the Apple Watch with use of new iOS 10 tools to enhance the watch experience. The update includes multiple visual enhancements to provide an effective at-a-glance weather summary and additional MinuteCast® interaction to keep users updated on hyper-local minute-by-minute conditions.
