Leica Geosystems opens field trial for cloud version of Leica Cyclone point cloud processing software

NORCROSS, GA, April 12, 2016 – Leica Geosystems announced today it is accepting sign-ups for a limited field trial of Leica Cyclone Cloud, a new method for accessing and subscribing to Leica Cyclone point cloud processing software. Leica Cyclone Cloud uses state-of-the-art cloud-delivery technology to virtualize and deliver Leica Cyclone on a user’s machine for the ultimate project flexibility.

Leica Cyclone Cloud offers all the same robust capabilities that make Leica Cyclone the industry standard for laser scanning users while improving access options and reducing IT demands. This is ideal for individuals who want to explore new capabilities or increase their efficiency for project-based requirements.

“Leica Cyclone Cloud users can stay up-to-date and ahead of the curve,” said Faheem Khan, vice president, business development for Leica Geosystems High-Definition Surveying. “Cyclone Cloud always provides the latest Cyclone version, wherever and whenever users need it, helping to scale their operations effectively.”

Easy, fast deployment
Leica Cyclone Cloud uses modern web technologies to enable users to quickly and easily access a full-featured, powerful desktop application on any Internet-connected PC. Through innovative cloud delivery technology, users can be up and running in one-fifth of the time on average compared to a standard software installation. The cloud-delivered cache can remain on the system for offline access, providing a high-flexibility solution for dynamic project requirements.

Cloud software, local data
Data security is vital in today’s cyber environment. Traditional cloud-based applications require data to be uploaded to the same cloud servers while gigabytes of daily uploads introduce their own specific sets of challenges. Leica Cyclone Cloud’s cloud delivery technology provides fast software application execution, while keeping customer data local and offline at all times, adhering to business critical, security-sensitive data restrictions.

Flexible, affordable licensing
Participants in the field trial of Leica Cyclone Cloud will be able to access the industry-best point cloud processing software in a “pay as you go” model, bringing greater flexibility to office and project management and planning.

Leica Cyclone Cloud will be available in familiar Cyclone modules, including:
– Cyclone Cloud-REGISTER;
– Cyclone Cloud-SURVEY;
– Cyclone Cloud-MODEL;
– Cyclone Cloud-PUBLISHER, and
– Cyclone Cloud-IMPORTER.

Field trial
The field trial for Leica Cyclone Cloud begins April 18 in the U.S. and Canada, and registration is now open. To sign up for the opportunity to participate, visit:
