Ubisense Launches Largest Ever myWorld Deployment

February 10, 2016 By GISuser

Cambridge, UK – February 10th, 2016 – Ubisense Group plc (AIM:UBI), a leader in enterprise location intelligence solutions, has successfully deployed its most significant myWorld installation to-date. The rollout to several thousand employees at one of the largest gas and electric utilities (“the Utility”) in North America integrated data from over thirty unique data sources into a live operating view of the Utility’s networks.

Ubisense myWorld is an enterprise software application designed to be used without the need for training. This benefits users across the enterprise – especially in engineering, operations and customer service. The recent deployment has improved operational processes at the Utility by providing employees with real-time access to multi-source data from inside and outside the organization; thus reducing time they spend searching for information and improving their overall situational awareness. myWorld supports the Utility’s daily mission to ensure the continual reliability of its networks, which supply energy to over seven million homes and businesses in North America.

The different data sources integrated by Ubisense myWorld at deployment include three separate Geographic Information Systems – Esri, GE Smallworld and Intergraph –, IBM’s Maximo Asset record system, live weather and Google Maps with Street View.

“We have enabled this major enterprise to recognize widespread efficiency gains, including significantly reduced manual search time of data sources, decreased physical trips to the field and faster problem diagnosis”, said Jay Cadman, Ubisense Vice President. “We believe our customer now has a platform in place to help address many different business challenges including ageing infrastructure, distributed generation and increasing weather related events.”

Ubisense myWorld is particularly effective at extracting maximum value from multiple complex legacy systems, because it is both highly scalable and exceptionally easy to use. This deployment is a significant testimony to that effect and further cements Ubisense myWorld as a system of choice for progressive enterprises in the utility sector.
