Cadcorp accepted by UK government as supplier of GIS Services under G-Cloud 7

December 10, 2015 By GISuser

STEVENAGE, United Kingdom, 10 December 2015 – British GIS and web mapping software developer Cadcorp, has won a place on the list of suppliers of Software as a Service (SaaS) for three hosted services, as  part of the government’s G-Cloud 7 framework.

The G-Cloud Programme is a cross government initiative with the aim of introducing cloud ICT services into government departments, local authorities and the wider public sector. Acceptance into the G-Cloud 7 Digital Marketplace means that the basic terms of Cadcorp’s cloud-based services have already been agreed with government following a formal Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) procurement process. The Digital Marketplace enables public sector organisations to buy services more quickly because they don’t have to run a full tender.

The Cadcorp endorsement is for three cloud-based services. The first service is the provision of Web Map Layers as a fully hosted off-the-shelf application for internet and intranet mapping. The second service is the provision of hosted Ordnance Survey map data for use within Web Map Layers. The final service is the Cadcorp INSPIRE Data Publisher. This service is designed to help UK local authorities meet their EU INSPIRE obligations by publishing data and metadata. It allows customers to upload their metadata to data.gov.uk, and to publish their data with view and download options.

Martin McGarry, managing director of Cadcorp, said “Under G-Cloud 7 we have responded to market demand by extending our cloud-based offering to include web mapping software, hosted data and metadata services. We look forward to increasing our activity in this area in the future.”
