Design competition that brings artists + data scientists together – Create and submit projects that merge information design and beauty into cultural and spatial insight.
In conjunction with Measure, an exhibition at Storefront of 30 drawings by 30 international architects presenting 30 edifices of thought, CartoDB is proud to announce an open call for submissions that brings together data visualization and the built environment in contemporary culture.
From microscopic to planetary scales and environmental to political scopes, submissions will be evaluated for their ability to make invisible forces visible in innovative and critical ways.
About the competition:
Insight is a new competition for artists and data scientists to blend data with design to make invisible forces visible in innovative and critical ways, in partnership with CartoDB (popular data visualization and digital mapping company) and Storefront for Art and Architecture (legendary organization committed to the intersections of architecture, art, and design). Winners of Insight will be displayed at Storefront’s newest exhibit, Measure, in NYC from August 14th to September 12th, 2015, as well as the chance to collaborate with CartoDB on future projects.
To enter, participants are asked to submit a map or visualization that merges information design with cultural and spatial insight (with the help of CartoDB’s platform). Submissions must be entered by September 1. Check out this page for more detail on the submission process.
With the competition, CartoDB aims to elevate the map-making community and celebrate beautifully insightful projects and inspire the community to create and share work around the measurable and immeasurable.
