Blaze Terra Gives Access to over 200,000 Landsat Images

August 24, 2015 By Editor

Data – Eternix Ltd., leading provider of next-generation software for GIS visualization and editing in 3D, announces the availability of Landsat’s database through Blaze Terra, allowing users to instantly review and analyze the entire data directly in a GIS setting.

layer5-3

Blaze Terra gives access to all of Landsat’s close to two hundred thousand images with real-time updates ensuring the latest imagery to be immediately at the user’s disposal. Landsat images are represented on a global layer map, making it easy for users to work intuitively and spot areas of interest. Pinpointing a specific location, for example, returns all the Landsat imagery for that location. Despite the large number of images, search results are visualized as geospatial footprints within a split second, easing on storage and facilitating image management. A dynamic search toolbar further allows users to query the set of images based on metadata information, cloud coverage, acquisition date, geographic area and more.

To open images in their full resolution, users can download them through the Blaze Terra user interface, including all additional multi-spectral bands. Downloaded images can then be combined with any complementary data such as vector, shape, video or point cloud files on top of terrain data, including Blaze Terra’s SRTM global terrain web layer, thus creating a rich and multifaceted 3D environment powered by Blaze Terra’s unique 3D algorithms and sophisticated GPU utilization. Given the large number of images, the comfort and speed characterizing Blaze Terra’s overall approach to managing large data-sets also constitutes a key advantage.

“This is a great addition to our set of global layers, which gives Blaze Terra users to access a multitude of external image database services from one place”, says Yoav Zobel, VP Software Development. “We intend to increase the set of global layers further in the future.”
