Ubisense Launches myWorld Inspection & Survey for Utilities

May 20, 2015 By GISuser

Ubisense transforms inspection and survey processes for utilities with a new software solution that optimizes all field inspections, reduces costs and improves compliance

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ubisense Group plc (AIM: UBI), a leader in enterprise location intelligence solutions, today introduced its new inspection and survey solution designed to enable utilities to create, optimize and perform all required field inspections and surveys digitally. myWorld Inspection & Survey has been found to increase surveying efficiency by up to 20 percent, delivering a new level of optimization, and improving network reliability and utilities’ ability to meet and prove regulatory compliance.

“myWorld Inspection & Survey is designed in close collaboration with our customers to be simple to operate on any device in the field which we believe has been a significant barrier to technology modernization for utilities previously.”

Utilities are facing unprecedented challenges from aging infrastructure and mounting regulations, leading to increased demand for innovative solutions. myWorld Inspection & Survey is a flexible software platform with a versatile architecture that can be deployed rapidly at any utility. myWorld Inspection & Survey consolidates all field inspection activities and integrates with any geospatial information system (GIS), work management system (WMS) and workforce management (WFM) system. It significantly enhances workers’ ability to collect inspection data by enabling them to capture information on any mobile device and eliminate paper-based processes which are time consuming and prone to human error.

Jay Cadman, vice president of networks industry strategy for Ubisense, is presenting at the American Gas Association (AGA) Operations Conference & Biennial Exhibition this week about the opportunity to modernize traditional inspection and survey processes. Ubisense is debuting myWorld Inspection & Survey capabilities at the conference in booth #1331.

“The process of field inspection and survey has remained mostly unchanged for the last 40 years, but the demands on the network, aging of assets and regulatory environment have all increased exponentially. Leveraging mobile technology to automate processes and ensure accurate data collection is a proven way for utilities to implement proactive network maintenance which improves overall service reliability,” said Cadman. “myWorld Inspection & Survey is designed in close collaboration with our customers to be simple to operate on any device in the field which we believe has been a significant barrier to technology modernization for utilities previously.”

myWorld Inspection & Survey is built on myWorld, a situational awareness and operations support solution that integrates data from any source and displays it as a live, geospatial operating picture. This gives operations teams a live view of the status of their inspections and surveys and the data collected at each site, allowing for real-time adjustments. More than 6,000 utility and telecommunications operations professionals use myWorld every day to elevate their operational performance.
