Nepal earthquake smart maps released

April 29, 2015 By GISuser

Two interactive smart maps that provide unique insights into Nepal’s earthquake tragedy have been released by global mapping giant Esri.

The Earthquake Public Information Map visualises the locations and intensities of the various quakes and aftershocks that struck the country, and includes eyewitness video and images from social media sites such as YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.

This map also features a continuously updated shakemap from the United States Geological Survey, which provides near-real-time information about ground motion and shake intensity.

Meanwhile, the Mapping the 2015 Nepal Earthquake smart map provides a 3D web scene of the area affected by the avalanche on Mount Everest, as well as information about rescue and relief operations and critical infrastructure.
