Leica Geosystems announces TruView Global: Making TruViews accessible across all user devices and browsers

April 6, 2015 By GISuser

(Heerbrugg/Switzerland, 01 April 2015) – Leica Geosystems today announced TruView Global, a new product to expand on its popular TruView application. TruView Global makes TruViews accessible via any Internet browser on any device without a plug-in. TruView was introduced by Leica Geosystems in 2006 as an innovative, market-first solution for intuitive, free point cloud viewing, measuring, and mark-up. TruView has since been imitated across the industry. Shaking free from prior operating system and browser constraints, TruView Global is another first-to-market innovation, bringing TruView to an entire new set of users and clearing the way for new end-user applications.

“Global” access to intuitive point cloud viewing, measuring, and mark-up
TruView Global utilises the most modern web technologies, such as HTML5, to deliver a truly independent solution to viewing TruViews on any device, in any web browser, and with no install required of a plug-in or app. TruViews Global provides compatibility and cross-platform collaboration in any combination of iOS devices, Android devices, Windows-based phones/tablets, Mac workstations, Linux workstations, and PC workstations. This unhindered TruView platform further globalises its use on mobile platforms by taking advantage of touch-based controls and adaptive interface technology (to match display size). Project navigation is improved with automatically generated project entry pages, an enhanced sitemap, and new custom options for project entry points. The initial release will support English, German, French, Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese, further expanding TruView Global’s reach.

Improved offerings to end-user clients
By removing operating system and browser constraints via TruView Global, TruViews are now a viable deliverable to any client. Users will find all the same important, popular, and familiar TruView capabilities such as zoom, pan, measurement/mark-up, geotags, and navigation between scan locations, with added and improved offerings including mark-ups being centrally stored for immediate visibility across project partners/concurrent users. This creates a better collaborative environment with easier information sharing between stakeholders.

TruView Global is also fully backwards compatible. All existing and previous TruViews can be imported and updated to the new TruView Global server format for improved access and collaboration—simply upload existing or new project data to the TruView Global server. Re-energising old projects with TruView Global offers end-users new capabilities from legacy data. All TruView Global point cloud views, from legacy or new data, will continue to take advantage of the “free for use” business model, allowing free access and viewing to end-users.

Easy implementation and deployment
TruView Global has flexible, easy, push-button deployment options. For local installations, a self-contained package install occurs with no additional server setup by the user/provider.

TruView Global offers a “future-ready” solution for users. Initially available as user-maintained installation, TruView Global is engineered to accommodate fully-hosted, cloud-based services. A fully-hosted TruView Global implementation option from Leica Geosystems is planned for the near future. User-maintained now, or hosted by Leica Geosystems in the future, TruView Global is offered with affordable, flexible pricing—another industry first.

Availability
Leica TruView Global is planned to be available Q2 2015. Ordering information is available from authorised Leica Geosystems representatives.
