Developers and would-be developer types that are off to esriuc this year might be asking , "what is there for me at UC"? Well, thanks to the awesome and very detailed, UC Q&A from Esri there’s plenty for you!
- Over the weekend prior to UC (July 6 -7), Esri will host a hackathon in Ballroom 20A of the San Diego Convention Center. We will ask developers to build a solution around a specific problem in the San Diego area, using the ArcGIS platform. Developers will then have the opportunity to present their resulting software before a panel of judges, who will select three winning solutions.
- Each morning of the conference, Tuesday through Thursday, we will host a Hackers Sandbox in Hall B, where you can bring your machines or use ours, and try out our developer tools or meet and learn from others who are working with the same APIs. The space and equipment are yours to use. You can even start a special interest Tweetup to attract folks who might be interested.
- Tuesday afternoon we’re running a developer-oriented Speedgeeking event. Come see 10 high-energy lightning talks in a “speed dating” style presented by Esri experts and innovators. That’s ten new things to learn in one hour. Are you up for the challenge?
- Wednesday afternoon we’re holding our second annual User Experience (UX) Summit. Building applications that meet the increased expectations of usability by your end users is a rapidly growing topic of interest. Stop by and hear from the design pros, and learn a few things that will make your apps more productive.
- If you’ve heard about our popular nationwide Dev Meet Up series, or if you’ve attended one or more already, we’d like to let you know that we’re hosting our next one at the UC on Wednesday night in the Coronado Room of the Marriott from 5:30-9:00 p.m. We’ll have free drinks and snacks. Tickets for this are free but are very limited. You’ll need to sign up ahead of time to attend. If you wait until the week of the conference, you might be too late.
- On Thursday morning, we will be hosting our first OpenStreetMap (OSM) Mapping Party. If you’ve always wanted to participate in OSM, this event will be an opportunity for you to solve a specific set of challenges to improve the map. In this session, we’ll be mapping locations to help non-profit social development organizations with their projects in third world countries. Got a minute? Grab your laptop, come by the OSM Mapping Party, and make a difference! –
