Location-based App for the Masses – New GeoGroups App Reinvents Geo-Social Experience

January 27, 2011 By Editor

Reporting potholes that need filling, barking dogs that need quieting, and graffiti that needs removing are now available to Android phone users in dozens of cities and counties with the launch of GORequest for the Android by Government Outreach, Inc.

Android phone users simply open the application, select an issue, take a picture, and tap submit – the application knows the exact location and sends the issue directly to the staff member at city hall who can fix it. Users are kept up-to-date on the status of their issue, and it is all done 24×7 without having to visit city hall or go to a computer.

“Cities of every size told us they wanted to give their residents the same Android and iPhone convenience that only a few big cities have offered. We’ve already helped many agencies across the country dramatically improve customer service and reduce operational costs through the web and the iPhone, but with GORequest for the Android, they can now connect with more residents on the go. In the past year, some of our city clients have seen more than 25% of their issue submissions migrate to the iPhone. This is a huge paradigm shift in how cities were dealing with constituents,” Kendall Smith, President of Government Outreach noted.

A picture is worth a thousand words – with GORequest for the Android, a photo and GPS coordinates allow large and small cities such as Santa Monica CA, Arvada CO, DeSoto TX and Queen Creek AZ to efficiently find and fix issues. Fully integrated with the GORequest system, automatic request routing allows cities and counties to improve service with less staff, which lowers costs and allows city hall to be open 24×7.
