Geospatial Data Distribution and Collaboration Solutions Give Army Topographic Support Teams around the World Better Access to Mapping Tools

ATLANTA, GA – October 22, 2007 –TerraGo Technologies announced today that the Army DTSS Program has licensed the Map2PDF suite of software products used to create GeoPDF® files and incorporate them into their geospatial intelligence products.  “The incorporation of this technology together with the tools that have already been deployed with the system has created a tremendously effective exploitation system to benefit those soldiers in the field who are truly at the tip of the geospatial intelligence spear for the Army,” said Brian Soliday, vice president of sales for TerraGo Technologies.

GeoPDF is the only geospatial data distribution and collaboration format that leverages the Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) to give users powerful mapping functionality and capabilities via Adobe Reader®, an application already installed on hundreds of millions of computers worldwide.  Utilizing the GeoPDF format, the Army can extend maps, imagery and attribute data to virtually any computer, making extensive geospatial intelligence available in a portable format that most people already know how to use.

The DTSS is a geospatial analysis and production system composed of the latest COTS, GOTS and custom software designed to provide commanders and weapon systems with geospatial data and analysis support at Brigade, Division, Corps and Echelons Above Corps (EAC). The DTSS collects, stores, manages, creates, updates and disseminates geospatial data, information, and products used by both Army Battle Command and the Distributed Common Ground System – Army (DCGS-A). There are currently more than 400 DTSS systems fielded to the Active Army and National Guard Brigade Combat Teams, Stryker Brigades, Special Forces Groups and at Division, Corps and Theater commands.

“This acquisition with the DTSS Program is one of the most important initiatives within our firm and greatly extends our ability to serve the warfighter with cutting edge geospatial technology,” said James Davis, TerraGo Technologies CEO.  “The initiative showcases the value of combining the GeoPDF format with traditional geospatial tools to produce actionable geospatial information and increase collaboration capabilities using a portable data package that can be used anywhere by anyone.”
