Esri’s Carrie Speranza, CEM, Elected President of the International Association of Emergency Managers

July 10, 2024 By GISuser

REDLANDS, Calif.—July 1, 2024—Esri, the global leader in location intelligence today announced that Carrie Speranza, CEM, the company’s director of Emergency Management Solutions has been named president of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). Starting today, Carrie will lead the association’s efforts for 17 months.

With more than 5,000 members worldwide, IAEM is dedicated to promoting the “Principles of Emergency Management” and representing those professionals whose goals are saving lives and protecting property and the environment during emergencies and disasters.

“I am honored to serve as IAEM’s president,” said Speranza. “The association has provided me, and so many other emergency managers, a network of colleagues to share best practices and exchange information that help us better serve our communities before, during, and after disasters.”

IAEM membership represents professionals from all levels of government, as well as the military, the private sector, institutions of higher education, healthcare, and volunteer organizations. Carrie has been a lifelong advocate for the emergency management profession, and this new role highlights her dedication.

“The geographic approach to problem solving applies to nearly every emergency and disaster humans face,” continued Speranza. “I enjoy working alongside my emergency management colleagues as we continuously seek to enhance and improve our practices through technology and innovation. Associations like IAEM give practitioners a place and an opportunity to expand our knowledgebase, network with peers, and learn new ways of doing things. Ultimately, we do this to help people on their worst day.”
