Google Gmail un-Send Feature has Existed Since 2009 – Here’s How to un-Send

June 24, 2015 By GISuser

So the mainstream media is going all “GaGa” this week over the ability to un-send an email message sent using Gmail

Undo sending your mail Gmail Help

You may think, WOW, this is awesome… this will help me tackle that “Oh Sh&t” moment that we all experience by accidentally sending a reply to all or accidentally blasting a message out there late at night when you really shouldn’t be online at all!

Well, you may be surprised to know that this feature, which is born out of the Google Labs, has actually existed since 2009 – we’re all just being treated to it now! Yes indeed, just check out this thread from the official Google Gmail blog from March 19, 2009.

From the Labs post… “And now you can do just that. Turn on Undo Send in Gmail Labs under Settings, and you’ll see a new “Undo” link on every sent mail confirmation. Click “Undo,” and we’ll grab the message before it’s sent and take you right back to compose.”

So there you go. Feel free to type away, blast that email message ranting to the World and then take it back – but you better be quick because you only have about 10 seconds to decide!
