Stantec’s Michael Knust Earns GIS Professional (GISP) Certification

May 6, 2015 By GISuser

Louisville, KY (May 6, 2015) NYSE, TSX: STN – Michael Knust of Stantec’s Louisville office has earned his certification as a GIS Professional (GISP) by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI). Knust has been with Stantec for eight years serving as a GIS Analyst. The GISP certification, coupled with his Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification, further strengthens Knust’s role in the GIS floodplain mapping, risk assessment, and mitigation analysis for FEMA’s Risk MAP program. Stantec, in a joint venture with Atkins, was recently selected by FEMA to provide services under a new nationwide contract that extends to 2019.

A GISP is a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional who achieves the minimum standards for ethical conduct and professional practice as established by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI). GISCI certification requires achievement in three areas: educational achievement, professional experience, and contributions to the profession. Stantec employs 275 professionals across Kentucky from Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky.
