NGA Deputy Director Joins USGIF Board of Directors – Sue Gordon Named Newest Advisor to USGIF

April 2, 2015 By GISuser

Herndon, Virginia (April 2, 2015)—The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) is pleased to announce National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Deputy Director Sue Gordon as an advisor to the USGIF Board of Directors.

“Sue has a great compassion and enthusiasm in her position and we are excited to bring that energy to the USGIF Board of Directors,” said USGIF COO Aimee McGranahan. “Her participation is key in our continued strong engagement with NGA, and Sue will be instrumental in supporting USGIF as it tackles challenges and fosters innovation on behalf of the GEOINT Community.”

Gordon became the sixth NGA deputy director Jan. 1, 2015, after more than 25 years of service with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). She previously served as director of the CIA’s Information Operations Center and as the CIA director’s senior advisor on cyber. While at the CIA, Gordon was also responsible for designing and implementing In-Q-Tel, a private, nonprofit company with the primary purpose of delivering innovative technology solutions for the Intelligence Community.

“We welcome Ms. Gordon to the USGIF Board of Directors,” said the Honorable Jeffrey K. Harris, USGIF Chairman of the Board. “Her experience and keen understanding of the need to align people and technology to solve mission problems will strengthen our ability to advance USGIF educational programs driving improved tradecraft. In addition, through her leadership and counsel, USGIF will be able to build on its efforts to link U.S. government program efficiencies and effectiveness with industry-provided solutions.”

Gordon replaces former NGA Deputy Director Mike Rodrigue as a USGIF board advisor. The previous NGA Deputy Director Lloyd Rowland was also a board advisor. Board advisors serve as non-voting members on the USGIF Board of Directors.
