Optech showing multiple hydrography solutions at U.S. Hydro Conference 2015

March 9, 2015 By GISuser

March 9, 2015 — Optech is pleased to announce that it is exhibiting at the U.S. Hydro Conference in Maryland on March 16-19, where it will display effective solutions to the challenges of hydrographic surveying, including new results from its integrated lidar/sonar system and details about its airborne bathymetric lidar mappers.

Sydney harbor recently got a visit from both the Optech ILRIS MC lidar scanner and the Teledyne RESON SeaBat sonar, and attendees can catch a glimpse of the results from their joint survey in the Optech booth. Developed in collaboration with Optech’s Teledyne sister company RESON, this fully integrated lidar/sonar solution surveys above and below the waves from a moving watercraft. This latest demonstration clearly shows the system’s facility at rapidly mapping both the water bottom and the above-water features of an important harbor area quickly and safely.

Optech will also show the latest details of its airborne lidar sensors, including Titan, the industry’s first commercial multispectral airborne lidar. Armed with both green and infrared laser channels, Titan is a single-system solution for both topographic and bathymetric mapping, putting almost a million points on the ground during land surveys and penetrating up to 15 m of water to capture river beds, lake bottoms, and shallow coastal waters.

For users looking for the very highest depth penetration in airborne lidar bathymetry, the Optech booth will have data and details from the Coastal Zone Mapping and Imaging Lidar (CZMIL). In addition to mapping waters up to 80 m deep in clear conditions, CZMIL also maps more than any other airborne lidar in turbid and muddy-bottomed waters, and is already validated and in use by several government agencies in the U.S. and worldwide. Visitors can also see some of the advanced deliverables that Optech HydroFusion produces from CZMIL’s lidar, hyperspectral and RGB sensors, such as benthic classification and bottom reflectance maps, and hear how without the need for a hardware purchase, they can leverage the new CZMIL Project Program to obtain access to a CZMIL system along with expert Optech technicians for their own projects.

Attendees interested in seeing data from any of these solutions and inquiring about how they could be used for their particular applications can head to booth #56, where Optech staff will be ready to answer their questions.
