November 5, 2014 By GISuser

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 3, 2014—Spectra Precision introduced today a new high-accuracy solution for its Geographic Information System (GIS) portfolio—-the MobileMapper® 300. With the MobileMapper 300, precise GIS data collection is now possible on mobile devices running the customer’s choice of mapping applications.

The announcement was made at Trimble Dimensions.

The new MobileMapper 300 receiver is designed to be used in combination with a wide variety of Android and Windows 8 smartphones, tablets or notebook computers. The MobileMapper 300 is controlled with the mobile device and is ready to work with many GIS applications including Spectra Precision, Trimble or third-party application with the integrated Trimble SDK. The solution allows users to collect high-accuracy location information, which is significantly more accurate than the device’s internal GPS.

“The MobileMapper 300 enables GIS professionals to use their preferred application and run it on the Android or Windows 8 mobile device of their choice while still benefiting from Spectra Precision GNSS technology,” said Olivier Casabianca, Spectra Precision business area director. “With the MobileMapper 300, consumer devices are not limited by their internal GPS and can obtain mapping-grade or even survey-grade accuracy levels.”

To use the GNSS receiver with Android or Windows 8 mobile devices, the MobileMapper 300 includes the Spectra Precision accuracy enabler (SPace), a control application that manages all the communications and GNSS settings on the mobile device via Bluetooth

Availability

The MobileMapper solution is expected to be available in late November 2014 through the Spectra Precision Distribution Channel. For more information visit: www.spectraprecision.com or email: sales@spectraprecison.com.
