Metaio Launches Augmented Reality Creator for Adobe InDesign

October 2, 2014 By GISuser

MUNICH AND SAN FRANCISCO, October 2nd, 2014: The world leader in Augmented Reality (AR) software and solutions, Metaio, launches the first ever AR plugin for Adobe InDesign publishing tool.

metaio

The plugin allows InDesign users to quickly build and deploy AR experiences right within Adobe InDesign. Designers now have the ability to construct tracking markers and then augment pages with AR content without ever leaving the InDesign software. The company also released a video demonstrating how an InDesign user can quickly create professional AR content using the new plugin.

“It is extremely important for Metaio that when users enter the world of Augmented Reality, that there is compelling content waiting there for them” says Michael Kuhn, SVP of Product Development at Metaio. “By providing easy-to-learn AR functionality right inside Adobe InDesign, we are giving millions of creative professionals the ability to create original Augmented Reality experiences.”

The plugin allows users to not only create tracking markers right within InDesign, but to also evaluate them for tracking stability. A 3-star rating system informs the designer whether their page design is suitable for AR. Once the page is optimized, users can insert images, embedded videos and live hyperlinks into an augmented layer which becomes visible when viewed through a smartphone or tablet. The plugin is also able to directly launch the existing project into Metaio Creator – the most powerful dedicated AR authoring tool on the market. The combination of these tools makes building AR experiences easier than ever, and more accessible to content developers who will create the next generation of AR experiences.

The plugin allows users to deploy their work for free via the Junaio AR browser (iOS & Android), or even as a standalone application.

Metaio shall be giving live demonstrations of the plugin next week at Adobe Max – the largest Adobe conference of the year, held in Los Angeles October 4th through 8th, and at InsideAR Munich – The Augmented Reality Conference – on October 29th/30th.

The Metaio AR Creator Plugin is available today in the Adobe Exchange Store.
