junaio displays Public Viewing and Match Statistics with Augmented Reality

June 23, 2010 By Editor

junaio displays Public Viewing and Match Statistics with Augmented Reality – The AR browser junaior allows Android and iPhone users to locate public viewing spots nearby with Vodafone providing the content for the POIs; once there, access real time match statistics in the live-video, provided by the largest independent media service provider IMPIRE; service also available in stadiums

MUNICH, June 23rd – As Kick-off time approaches are you desperately searching for a convenient public viewing site? Then junaior`s new football features are your salvation. Your smartphone will identify nearby viewing sites – provided by the social media service "Wo guckst Du?" by Vodafone and get you there in a hurry. During the game junaior`s exciting augmented reality browser will provide real-time game statistics based on IMPIRE`s renowned sports database. Further sports services to follow.

Using the smartphone`s GPS and built-in compass, junaior is able to rapidly point out public viewing sites around you, indicate their distance to your own position, provide viewer capacity and direct you towards them. Wherever you are, you won`t miss a game. The featured channel for finding public viewing spots in junaio is based on "Wo guckst Du?" (engl.: "where are you watching?") by Vodafone. With this service users can make appointments on a web-portal or via Facebook to watch a match together, share the location and give personal comments or further descriptions. The "Wo guckst Du" channel by Vodafone is the first channel ever, to tie in social capabilities. You can share private viewings with your friends and display these in a stunning new way.

While you are watching, access real-time statistics such as goals, shots on goal, corner kicks, off-sides, penalties, time of possession, passes, fouls, etc., or simply review the team line-up directly overlaid onto the football field. All of the up-to-the-minute information is presented real-time, in fact the same data which is being fed to TV stations, publishing companies, internet services and soccer clubs. These features in the also featured "Football Channel" are an opportunity to kick-off this cooperation between junaior, the fastest growing "augmented reality" platform for mobile devices and IMPIRE AG, Germany`s largest independent media service provider.

Finally, the match-statistics are also available while you are sitting in the stadium. Having real-time statistics and information about players displayed on the real playground is a glimpse into the future of watching sports. Imagine the possibilities of identifying and tracking single players during the match through the camera of your phone?

Due to the limitations of GPS inside buildings, junaior uses LLA Markers to allow AR overlays inside museums, exhibitions or shopping malls with absolute accuracy. With junaior`s open API, developers can create state of the art augmented reality applications. junaior is available as a version for the iPhone and for Android.
