NAVTEQ Network for Developers (NN4D) Initiates Developer Days Globally to Assist LBS Developers

February 23, 2011 By Editor

First technical workshops to be held in China, providing developers with technical know-how and exposure to partner APIs and SDKs

NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, today announced the launch of NAVTEQ® Developer Day events. The new series of global events for application developers will be held in the APAC, EMEA and Americas regions throughout 2011.  The events, hosted by the NAVTEQ Network for Developers™ (NN4D), include an introduction to NAVTEQ and partner APIs and SDKs.

The NAVTEQ Developer Day events will teach developers about the global opportunities to differentiate their location-based apps using NAVTEQ® map data. Event participants will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about NN4D’s offerings, including technical support, business development, technical marketing opportunities and community forums. Participating developers will also have the opportunity to submit their location-based app for consideration to be showcased at a NAVTEQ proprietary or industry event. If selected, developers will be given the opportunity to present their solution to pertinent NAVTEQ customers in the automotive, wireless and enterprise space, an invaluable gateway to industry experts and market exposure.

The first NAVTEQ Developer Day event kicked off in Beijing, China on February 22. The China events will be co-hosted by the Great Wall Club and are sponsored by ESRI and deCarta. Attendees will participate in hands-on technical workshops, giving them an introduction to  NAVTEQ, deCarta and ESRI APIs, tools and solutions. Developer Day event attendees will also learn about NAVTEQ map data for global mapping, geocoding, search and routing and learn about deCarta’s mobile JavaScript, iPhone®, Android™, Bada and Web APIs and corresponding source code.

DeCarta, a leading provider of location-based software platforms and applications, offers a scalable hosted service that provides developers with an extensive set of objects and tools to differentiate their applications.  ESRI, a GIS software leader, will also host a session about its ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS APIs for iOS and Windows® Phone platforms, including data processing, mapping, routing analysis and service publishing, based on NAVTEQ map data.

"The first NAVTEQ Developer Day events are in China, as it has one of the fastest growing developer populations in the world, bringing remarkable potential and talent to the realm of location-based services," said Marc Naddell, vice president, partner and developer programs, NAVTEQ.  "By offering NAVTEQ Developer Day events around the world, the NAVTEQ Network for Developers continues to fulfill its goal of driving innovation and providing world-class technical resources to the ever-growing global developer community."

The NAVTEQ Developer Day China events will be held at the Westin Chaoyang in Beijing on February 22 and at the Westin Bund Center in Shanghai on February 24.  Specific locations and dates for other NAVTEQ Developer Day events will be announced over the coming months.  For more information and to register, visit www.NN4D.com/developerday.
