Maponics First to Offer Real Estate Subdivision Boundaries

April 4, 2011 By Editor

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (March 2011) – Maponics (www.maponics.com), a leading provider of location-based data, today announced its groundbreaking  Subdivision Boundaries product  with plans for vast U.S. coverage by mapping more than 500,000 by year-end.  The real estate industry has long recognized that the immediate area surrounding properties significantly impacts quality of life and home values.  In suburban settings, the smallest defined area around properties is typically the subdivision—which can include everything from a few homes within a gated community to a development with hundreds of properties.

High-quality subdivision boundaries support a host of real estate services aimed at both consumers and real estate professionals that improve:

  • search and display
  • interactive mapping
  • trend and analytics reporting
  • automated valuation models

Until now, the real estate industry has had no reliable and systematic source for subdivision boundary data.  But Maponics has cracked the code by developing patent-pending technology to automate the generation of such boundaries on a wide scale.  Created using a blend of GIS and public location records, and applying more than fifty quality metrics, these highly accurate boundaries represent an industry-first accomplishment.  The initial release of Maponics Subdivision Boundaries TM will include hundreds of thousands of subdivisions across the country, growing quarterly, with more than 500,000 targeted by year-end.

“Maponics location and boundary data is already the standard in the real estate industry, which we have adopted to provide a better user experience and help make REALTORS® more effective and successful,” said Marty Frame, President of Realtors Property Resource TM (RPR).  “Maponics Subdivision Boundaries are a natural extension of their neighborhood data as they provide more granularity and coverage for the areas that define the communities around properties in the ways our users actually think about them.”

“With neighborhood, school and ZIP Code boundary data, Maponics is already a one-stop shop for real estate map data,” said Galen Ward, Founder and CEO of Estately.  “We are excited to see them tackle Subdivisions, which let consumers know if a home is a deal or a dog, because being in the right subdivision can add tens of thousands of dollars of value to a home.”

“Subdivision Boundaries is an excellent example of automation, GIS expertise, and a focus on quality coming together to create a product that addresses a fundamental industry need,” said Darrin Clement, CEO of Maponics.  “I’m extremely proud of our team for developing an innovative approach that not only represents significant intellectual property, but also enables us to respond quickly to customer requests for geographic coverage and provide a new set of custom polygon services.”

Maponics Subdivision Boundaries will expand quarterly through a subscription model and early adopters will receive updates at no additional charge.  MLS providers, real estate companies, local search players, and mobile application developers interested in participating in the Beta should contact Maponics at
800-762-5158.  Customers may also contact Maponics about building subdivision boundaries for their local areas ahead of the planned rollout.
